Everyone has an idea. Very few people get to the end of the weekend-validation loop — the one where you write a pitch, put it in front of real humans, and actually hear “yes” or “no” before you’ve poured three months in. The Side Hustle track is built backward from that loop: every quest is a step on it, and ten minutes a day for two weeks is enough to run the whole thing.
The core insight
You don’t need to know if your idea is good. You need to know if anyone will say “yes, take my email address.” That’s a radically smaller question, and AI is remarkably good at helping you ask it. The point of the track is to end up with a signal — a waitlist, a pre-order page, a few DMs — not a product. If the signal is strong, you build. If not, you save three months and pick the next idea.
The daily loop
A Side Hustle quest is 10 minutes on one artifact:
- Day 1: One-paragraph pitch. Voto stress-tests it with “what’s unclear?”
- Day 2: The five-question survey you’ll show five real humans.
- Day 3: Actually show it to five real humans. Log what they said.
- Day 4–5: Landing page copy, in the voice of the people who answered “yes.”
- Day 6: Ship the page. Post once.
- Day 7: Read the replies. Decide.
You’ll want to skip Day 3. That’s where most projects die, and the track won’t let you.
Three examples
A tool you wish existed. Write the pitch as if announcing it on launch day. If the pitch bores you, the product will bore everyone else.
A service you could offer. “I’ll do X for Y pounds in Z hours, 10 slots a month.” Voto drafts the page; you ship it; you see if anyone clicks the button.
A community you’d run. Five people who’d come to a monthly meetup for something specific. The validation is the RSVPs, not the idea.
What to watch for
- Idea inflation. You’ll be tempted to make the idea grander because AI makes it easy to write copy. Resist. The validation version is small.
- Friends and family aren’t signal. They’ll sign up out of love. You need strangers who found your page, read it, and clicked.
- Analysis paralysis in the Figma file. Beautiful pages don’t correlate with validation. One clear page with one clear button beats a masterpiece.
Where to start
The Side Hustle track Quest 1 is the one-paragraph pitch. You’ll be done in 10 minutes, and the quality of the pitch will tell you something honest about the idea. If you can’t write a paragraph that excites you about your own project, nobody else is going to be excited either.
